Who we are

Formed in 2012, the Basement Kings are a five-piece band from Excelsior, Minnesota, featuring Chip Cheney on vocals, Mike Bailey on drums, Scott Lucas on lead guitar, and Craig Rossebo on bass.—the Basement Kings with vocalist Brittany Benjamin.

The band’s journey began casually over beers when two good friends, Scott and Chip, suggested starting a band. It sounded like a great idea! The bass player overheard the conversation and said, "Count me in." And thus, the adventure started.

Craig Rossebo, Wisconsin Native, ever since he could walk he has played the bass. “Its in my bold, I love it” Has been in bands all his life keeps on rockin in his new hometown of Excelsior.

Scott Lucas, who resides in Indy, has been in bands since he was 18, playing everything from AC/DC to Johnny Marr. Craig Rossebo, the bass player, has been making music since high school in Wisconsin, rocking out to artists like Cheap Trick and Kings of Leon.

Chip Cheney, another Wisconsin native, has been singing his whole life and is deeply involved in the local music scene in Excelsior. He books all the bands for the summer music series at the Commons.

Mike Bailey joined the group as a seasoned drummer. He began touring Europe with a rock band at age 15 and has helped keep the band on track with all their songs.

We genuinely enjoy what we do in this rock 'n' roll musical journey.
